What cookies are and why we use them
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep on your computer, tablet or phone. When you return, the file is sent back and tells us something useful: that you are already signed in, which language you chose, or that you have already answered our cookie notice. Pixels, local storage and the equivalent tools in mobile apps work in much the same way, and where this policy says cookies it means all of them.
We use them for four reasons:
- To run the site and keep it secure. Signing you in, holding your session in the cashier and blocking automated attacks.
- To understand how the site is used. Counting visits, measuring how quickly pages load and picking up errors we would otherwise miss.
- To remember your preferences. Your language, your display settings and the cookie choices you have already made.
- To measure our advertising. Seeing which campaigns bring people to the site and limiting how often the same message is shown.
Strictly necessary cookies are set as soon as the site opens, because it cannot be provided without them. Every other cookie is set only after you agree through the cookie notice on your first visit, and you can change that agreement at any time.
Where a cookie involves personal data, that data is handled as set out in our privacy policy. We do not use cookies to gather more than we need.
The types of cookies we use
We group cookies by purpose rather than by who sets them. Some are ours; others belong to service providers who help us host the site, measure traffic or deliver advertising, and they may use the data only for the purposes we have agreed with them.
| Category | Typical purpose | Set without consent? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Signing in, session security, fraud prevention, storing your cookie choices | Yes, the site cannot run without them |
| Performance and analytics | Counting visits, measuring page speed, finding errors | No |
| Functionality | Remembering language, layout and other display preferences | No |
| Marketing | Measuring our campaigns and capping repeat messages | No |
Strictly necessary cookies
These keep you signed in as you move between pages, protect your session in the cashier, spread traffic across our servers and guard against fraud and account takeover. We hold a gaming licence and must verify the identity and age of our customers, and cookies in this category keep those checks attached to your session. They also store your answer to the cookie notice. They cannot be switched off on the site, and the safer gambling tools in your account depend on them.
Performance and analytics cookies
These show us how the site is used so that we can improve it: how many people visit, which pages are opened, how long they take to load and where errors occur. The reports we receive describe patterns across many sessions rather than naming individuals. They are how we find, for example, a game page that fails on one browser or a registration step that people abandon.
Functionality cookies
These remember choices so that you do not have to repeat them: your language, the way you prefer lists and tables shown, whether sound is on, and which on-site messages you have dismissed. Decline them and the site still works, but it starts from its default settings on every visit.
Marketing cookies
These record that you arrived from a particular campaign, let us measure whether our advertising is working and cap how often the same message reaches the same device. We do not direct gambling advertising at anyone under 18, and we exclude people who have asked us to stop as far as the available tools allow.
How long cookies last
- Session cookies are deleted as soon as you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies stay for a set period so that your choices survive between visits.
- The categories, purposes and lifetimes of the individual cookies we use are listed in the cookie notice on the site.
How to manage cookies on our site and in your browser
In our cookie notice
- Open the cookie settings from the footer of any page.
- Look over each category and the purposes it covers.
- Switch off the categories you do not want, or accept or decline everything in one step.
- Save your choice. It applies straight away.
Your choice is itself stored in a cookie, so you will need to set it again on each device and browser you use, and after you clear your cookies.
In your browser
Every mainstream browser lets you see what is stored and change it. The controls usually sit under privacy, security or site permissions, and your browser's own help pages explain exactly where. From there you can:
- Delete the cookies already on your device, either all of them or those from a single site.
- Block all cookies, or only those set by sites other than the one you are visiting.
- Ask to be prompted each time a site wants to set a cookie.
- Clear cookies automatically whenever you close the browser.
What happens if you block them
Refusing cookies that are not strictly necessary changes nothing about your account with us. Blocking strictly necessary cookies is different, because the site needs them to work.
- You may be unable to sign in, or you may be signed out as soon as you open another page.
- The cashier may not be able to complete a deposit or a withdrawal.
- Deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion may not open or save.
- Security checks may treat your browser as new each visit and ask you to verify yourself more often.
- The cookie notice may reappear on every page, and preferences such as language will reset.
How to reach us about cookies
If you have a question about this policy, want to know more about a particular cookie, or something is not working as it should, contact us by e-mail at support@casinogamebookers.co.uk or through the live chat on the site. Telling us which device and browser you are using helps, because cookie behaviour differs between them.
We update this policy when the cookies we use change or when the rules that apply to them change. The version published here is the current one, and if a change affects what you agreed to, we will ask you again through the cookie notice.
